Padme Amidala

Padme Amidala was a great leader, an accomplished politician and diplomat. One of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe, she was a champion for peace, justice, and democracy throughout her life. She grew up on Naboo as the young queen and led her people through some of their greatest trials including dealing with a hostile Trade Federation occupation and then reigning during the Clone Wars conflict. In terms of political prowess, Padme was ahead of her time both in terms of ideals and actions. After negotiations broke down between Queen Amidala’s representatives and Darth Sidious – disguised as Senator Sheev Palpatine - after being appointed galactic chancellor, Padme presented a motion to overthrow him directly which would have no doubt saved many lives if it had been passed by Senate vote; alas it did not pass due to corruption within Galactic politics at that time. This showed immense bravery on Padme's part as she went against all odds to try defend democracy regardless of what resources or support she could access at that time. Her struggle only intensified when war eventually did break out between The Republic (the forces supporting Padme) versus The Separatists (who were led by none other than Darth Sidious).
